Spring fever got me like: wearing maxi dresses in the weekend like it is already 25 degrees. Well, with 18 degrees it felt close to 25.. As much as I love winter, I have to admit that I am more than excited for summer. This is going to be my first summer in Amsterdam and I already can’t wait for late night drinks on a terrace and enjoying breakfast from my small balcony. Of course I am going to miss the water and the pool at home (and when it gets really HOT I will definitely escape to my parents place), but there is just something about Amsterdam that inspires me so much.
Another city that really inspires me is Copenhagen, as you must already know. I really can’t wait to go back there with my brother and we hopefully will this year. This is bringing me to the next point: A former Copenhagen based jewelry designer from Iceland. Say what..? You know how much I love jewelry and I am always in search to find that special something you won’t see somewhere else. That’s the reason why I am more than excited to share this new brand with you called Aurum.
Since my name actually means ‘Princess of Flowers’ I couldn’t be more happy to add their Ísold bracelet to my collection. It is such a beautiful piece. Luckily enough I got to ask the designer Gudbjorg some personal questions about her inspiration and favorite items. Hope you like it!
1. What inspires you the most?
– First of all the amazing nature we have in Iceland.
2. Since I chose the Ísold bracelet I would like to know more about your main inspiration for this line?
– The first piece of the Ísold was made for an exhibition shown at Danish Museum of Art & Design in Copenhagen. I got the inspiration for that collection after a walk up to the glacier Drangajökull in the west of Iceland and seeing all the small flowers coming up between the stones and the ice.
3. What’s your favorite item you made so far?
– In the Ísold collection there is the ring and unique bracelet, that also won the first prize in a jewelry competition in St. Petersburg. But my favorite piece now a days must be the big eye necklace from my newest Nanook collection.
4 . I see you lived in Copenhagen, which is next to Amsterdam and Paris my favorite city I have ever been to. What is your favorite place there?
– I really like the Louisiana museum and their surroundings, it’s so beautiful.
5. What is your favorite place to go to if you are out of inspiration?
– My summerhouse in the west of Iceland. The nature is beautiful with its mountains, the sea and glaciers. It’s very quiet and relaxing there.
