A good skin, believe it or not, comes from the inside. While proper skincare routine is definitely one of the most important steps, it actually works the best when combined it with a healthy diet filled with fruits, veggies and other superfoods that can nourish it and make it radiant. So, rather than just focusing on your waistline, why not create a meal plan that will suit your complexion as well? To help with that, we’ve got a few tips and tricks to bring out that healthy glow and makes your skin soft, clear and more beautiful!

Fight those breakouts

There are several causes why you might be plagued by acne breakouts. Poor skincare is one of them. If you keep falling asleep with your makeup on and forgetting to wash and moisturize your face, your pores are probably clogged. Bad hygiene is simply showing you the consequences on your skin. However, if those pimples are more cyclical and come only at specific times during the month, it’s very likely that you’re fighting hormonal acne. Either way, eating right can help you regulate the imbalance and feel better. So be careful about what you eat!

Dairy, for example, can exacerbate acne in a lot of cases> Most of the milk we drink is filled with hormones that mess up our own balance and lead to a worsening of your condition. Sugar, of course, is even worse. It increases inflammation levels in your body and causes irritations, redness and deep cystic acne that can be very difficult to deal with. While you don’t have to stop eating sugar and dairy completely, consider cutting down and replacing it with different foods. Things containing beta-carotene are good for fighting acne. Kale, carrots, spinach and peaches should be really in your diet. You could also try using certain supplements to help it all along.

Be wrinkle-free

The thing you want to focus on here is antioxidants. They will help prevent free radicals from degrading the quality of your skin and keep you looking supple and youthful. You will also wish to avoid foods that dehydrate your skin. If you’re drinking a lot of coffee, perhaps it’s time to cut down on it. Caffeine can really dry us out and make our skin flaky and patchy. One thing that’s even worse than coffee in that regard is alcohol. Avoid excessive amounts of both. Try to replace your morning cup of coffee with a cup of green or black tea. These are rich in antioxidants and can help detox your skin.

If you want to boost your energy and antioxidant levels, eat powerhouse foods such as broccoli, blueberries, spinach, grapes, strawberries, and kale. Try to cut down on red meats because they can increase free radical production. Drink yoghurt to help balance out the pH of your skin and enjoy tomatoes. They are full of lycopene, which can eliminate free radicals. To make it all more effective, combine your good diet with skincare full of natural beauty products that are free of harmful chemicals like parabens, sulphates, triclosan, preservatives, silicones and synthetic dyes. Basically, you want your skincare to be “good enough to eat.” If it’s pure enough to be eaten, then you know it’s beneficial for your face.

Bring out the glow

So, what other things can you eat to make your skin all plump and glowy? Well, fatty fish like salmon, anchovies and sardine contain a lot of omega-3 oils and can really bring out that lushness. Also nuts – walnuts, almonds, cashews, and hazelnuts do good. Pumpkin seeds, avocados, cacao are also a great idea. Basically, the more homemade meals you eat, the better. Especially if it makes you avoid inflammation-promoting, processed meals. Remember to drink a lot of water every day as well. Your skin will soon be as silk as satin and as soft as velvet.

If you combine consistency with mindful eating and perfectly-tailored skincare that suits your type, you’ll have fewer issues to worry about. Breakouts, wrinkles, the loss of elasticity can all be helped if you merely eat well and stay regular with skincare. So start cooking and eating a better diet and your skin will thank you!
