Don’t we all start the new year with New Year’s Resolutions? And how much of them is left? We are half way March now, which means Q1 is almost over. Think back at your resolutions for a while, are you still keeping up on them? Big chance the answer is ‘No’. Don’t worry, you are not the only one. Yet, it still sucks because how are you ever going to achieve your goals? In this post I want to share the magic of making a challenge. Something that can help you achieving your goals faster than you think!
I will take myself as an example. It might sounds weird, but I am afraid to do phone calls. May not sound like a big deal, but I can tell that, when you run your own business, it kinda is a big deal. I started my year with the resolution ‘I have to call more companies’. Almost at the end of Q1, I never called. This week I changed something for myself. I am done with this stupid fear to call (I mean, how weird can a fear be, right?), so I made myself a challenge. At least five calls in two days, how hard can it be? Strange enough it worked! Making a challenge for myself was much more successful than all the other ‘failed tries’.
Now this post isn’t about me and my fear to call, but I just want to show you how fun a challenge can be and how much easier it is to achieve your goals. And believe me, you can make a challenge out of everything. From loosing weight and fitting that favorite jeans again, to finding a new job and writing job applications for it. Make things more fun and challenge yourself. Do something at least multiple times before you stop. Don’t give up, repeat the next day and continue. It is much easier to get something (new) in your routine this way, so write down your challenge and the things you have to do for it. And don’t forget to share all your successes with me!
You are absolutely right… If we don’t challenge ourselves, we will never reach our goals.
I also don’t think that your fear of calling is stupid because I had it for forever and even though
I did conquer it, still sometimes I feel uncomfortable when I have to do it.
I love your shoes and jacket, I think that they’re perfect items for the transitional period right now. 🙂
