My Living Room in Color

Fashion and interior go hand in hand, but I probably don’t have to tell you that. If you look at my wardrobe, you see a lot of color and prints, so why go for an all white interior? Exactly. As you might know, I started my house all white, but step by step it is getting more color. It started with my kitchen make-over, then my jellyfish wallpaper toilet, and two-toned stair way. Now it was time for color in my living room! Even though everybody who I told my idea to paint my wall apple red told me I was totally crazy, I did it anyways. The result? A living room that comes straight out of a magazine. Gosh, how good it looks!

When I search for inspiration, I get the most inspired by rich colors and prints. That is why I think it is so important to get inspired inside your house, especially during this time in quarantine. The best thing about painting is that you can’t make mistakes. If you don’t like it or you are over a color, you just repaint. That is why it is so fun to try out colors and push your boundaries. Go and play and mix and match! For example, my pink carpet looks great next to my red wall. It actually looks even better than next to the previous white. Also the classic dark brown dresser which I bought for only €50,- in a thrift store totally updated the room.

Even more color!

When it comes to the styling, I went even bolder with some vintage and DIY’s. The hanging turtle, the Paris painting and Chinese vase are from my grandmother for example. The lemon lamp is a DIY of a fabric I had left and some blue spray paint. The insect frame was also DIY from some insects I had left from my previous DIY insect clock. This proves you can give your room a rich look and feel, without spending a lot of money.

The best thing about this colored wall is that the more color I use, the more it comes together. A big thing you see coming back in my house is green in my plants, which gives it all some balans. With plants, every corner in the house comes together without putting too much effort in it.

Painting also works really therapeutic, so don’t see it as a shitty job, but as a fun one! Get that brush out this long quarantine Easter weekend and go for color! Another nice fact about my choice for red; red gives a boost to your mood and positivity, it gives you power and makes a place very intimate. So if you are bold enough too, you also give mood a lil present with red. By the way, I used the color 100% Apple by Flexa.

Having doubts about the right color?

Do you have doubts about the right color? Then take a look at your wardrobe and check what colors you see there. With me, for example, I also saw a lot of red, which confirmed my choice even more. After I took the decision to go for red, I ordered three color testers at Flexa to see what color looked the best on the wall. This is also a great way to see if your ideas really look good in real life and go with your furniture and the light of the room. Anyways, my advice is to just do it and go bold!

What do you think about the result? Can’t wait to hear your thoughts! For now, I wish you a great Easter weekend and I hope I inspired you to use your painting brush and go ahead! If you do, please let me know by sharing the results! πŸ™‚
