POSTCARD

There is nothing we love more than receiving personal postcards. No matter if it’s on  your birthday, or just a friend who is thinking about you. A little personal, handwritten message means sometimes more than words. But why is it that we don’t do these anymore? Why do we buy printed cards and only write our name under it, or do we only send a text message? I often wonder how it was like in the days without technology and everybody holding their iPhones. Our parents – and even more grandparents – who had long distance relationships and couldn’t call each other by hand. That’s just something we can’t imagine right?

So when it’s my friends of families birthday, or when I am abroad for a longer time, I always try to pick up cards that fits them and write my honest personal message on it. I just love the feeling of giving a card and seeing a smile on their faces when reading my lines, because I know how good it feels to receive a card with some sweet words. In Amsterdam you can buy postcards on every corner of the street – like in every other big city in the world. But I like to find these special cards that are different from those, like the ones in this cute little poster shop for example.

So while picking up cards to write to my friends on their birthdays, I still have my phone in my Louis Vuitton bucket bag to keep in touch with them. Because let’s be honest, a world with only handwritten letters and postcards would be terrifying right? Let’s definitely not forget the power of postcards, but let’s be thankful for What’sapp as well because where would be be without nowadays?
