I think we all feel the same right now; bored, bored, unsure/scared about the future, and bored. Don’t get me wrong; all that is happening in the world is terrible. I truly feel so sorry for everyone affected by this terrible pandemic. For the ones who have lost a loved one, or have health problems and the ones who have insecurities about their jobs, such as restaurant and store owners. Let’s all take care, and hope this will end soon.
Meanwhile, as you know me, I try to see things on the bright side and give it a positive twist. With this lock-down, where we are all forced to spend time at home, you have time to shake up your interior! Finally, paint that wall that is staring at you for months and months and frame those pictures you collected over the years. It is time to inspire you!
One of my most recent finished projects (and I promise you, there are plenty more coming!), is my stairway makeover. I was struggling with the right thing to do here for a while. It was all white, and I was totally over it. It needed a new coat of paint, but the problem I had was the height. The walls are so high, and my stairs are deadly dangerous, so I couldn’t paint it all. So I had to let go of the idea of a hysterical wallpaper and think about paint options. Then the idea of a half colored wall was born. I still had enough paint left from the kitchen reno, where I repainted my pink wall pink, so why not use the same color here? Especially since you see both walls at the same time when you’re standing in my living room (see photo down below). So, time to get some extra appliances and start my stairway makeover!
Any artwork, photos, pictures, and frames you want to hang
If you have all of the above, you are good to go! All you have to do is decide where you want your stripe to be, measure everything out and tape it spirit level. Then, start painting! I always recommend doing two to three layers of paint for the best result, even if you’re painting over a white wall. I have to admit; it took me another two months to hang the pictures and frames as I wasn’t sure how and what I wanted to hang, but it was worth the wait. How good does it look?! I big tip: lay down your frames on the ground before you hang them to decide which one goes where and the distance of each frame. This will safe you a lot of unnecessary holes in the wall!
As I walk my stairs multiple times a day, it was important for me to make this an inspiring place as well. And inspiring it is! I see my favorite photos of my family and friends, Some artwork I made and precious things I collected over the years, and I love it! I hope this inspired you to do a stairway makeover yourself. For more inspiration, I invite you to take a look at my Pinterest board as well. Pinterest is my favorite way to come to new DIY and interior ideas, so I hope my style there inspires you too.
